The Davistown Museum has on exhibit a very uncommon Penney & Thurston Co. adjustable wrench. This obscure, yet historically important Maine wrench-maker is not listed in DATM (Nelson 1999). Thank you to the Missouri Valley Wrench Club Newsletter for the following: "The Penney & Thurston wrench is patent No. 44,653 issued Oct. 11, 1864.  It was described in the Nov. 26, 1864, Scientific American."
