E-Z-OUT E-Z-Out photo 2
Mystery Tool #1: This tool appears to have had a wooden handle at one time as there is a slot headed screw in the handle.  It is marked "E-Z-OUT" and "patent pending".

We have a suggestion that this might be a dandelion weeder similar to one offered by Lee Valley, which claims their design is a century or so old from England. They state "Originally called the 'Star Patent Daisy Grubber' when it was made in England a century ago, this tool was used for removing long-rooted weeds from lawns and gardens."  Another website shows a "Robt. Sorby Daisy Grubber, 47 cms long, Used for extracting daisies and levering out small difficult weeds, this daisy grubber was made by Robt. Sorby, Sheffield and carries the maker's mark. Early 20th Century."

Anyone with further questions about this tool may feel free to email the owner at sandyjruyle@juno.com.
