The first letter of the maker’s mark is very faint, but the patent date identifies this tool as the
product of Copeland & Chamberlain, working out of Worcester, Massachusetts, from circa 1872
to 1901. The company name was changed to Copeland Hardware Mfg. Co. In 1901 (Nelson
