Lothrop is not listed in the DATM (1999) or Directory of Sheffield. A George W. Lothrop, owner
of a general store, was married in 1856 in Maryville California and a George W. Lothrop Jr. of
Woonsocket, Rhode Island has an 1881 patent on a heddle frame connection for looms.

DATM (Nelson 1999, 642) lists Philip Quigley as a maker of levels, marking gauges, and
wooden planes. He was born in Ireland in 1824. He started working in Newark, NJ, in 1847. He
moved to San Francisco, CA in 1852 and died in 1871.
